The Coe family came to this country from Suffolkshire, England and arrived in Boston Massachusetts in the June of 1634. After a long and dangerous sailing voyage to the new world, they settled in the town of Watertown located near Boston. The ship that brought Robert Coe to the new world was called "Francis".
The first known record of a Coe in Durham Connecticut is of Lieutenant Joseph Coe, son of John Coe of Stratford who was grandson of Robert Coe who came from England. This Joseph Coe was one of the proprietors or first settlers of Durham in approximately 1700.

This page is also dedicated to our first Daughter, Sydney Alexandra Coe who made her brief appearance on this earth in November of 2000.
The loss of my daughter Sydney is something that I live with every day of my life and will have to continue to live with for the rest of my days. After presenting the annual Sydney Alexandra Coe Scholarship at Coginchaug Regional High School this year (2003), I came home that night and wrote my feelings at that time.
